Role Overview
The FMCG Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing suppliers and manufacturers for consumer-packaged goods. The role will require expertise in FMCG product sourcing, supplier negotiation, and procurement strategies to ensure competitive pricing and quality compliance.
Additionally, the specialist will collaborate closely with marketing and branding teams to source the best materials and packaging solutions that align with brand identity and industry trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate suppliers – Identify, vet, and establish relationships with FMCG-focused manufacturers and backup vendors.
- Procure and test samples – Ensure sourced materials meet branding, packaging, and functional requirements.
- Negotiate pricing and contracts – Secure cost-effective pricing, favorable contract terms, and supply reliability for FMCG products.
- Develop and maintain a supplier database – Build a structured list of trusted suppliers for FMCG raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
- Monitor supplier performance – Track quality, delivery timelines, and cost-effectiveness to ensure strong supplier partnerships.
Within the project scope, the specialist is expected to:
- Develop a targeted supplier list that includes FMCG-focused manufacturers and backup vendors.
- Successfully source and deliver high-quality product samples that meet branding and functional specifications.
- Negotiate and secure supplier contracts with cost-effective pricing and favorable terms.
- Ensure at least 95% supplier reliability (on-time delivery & adherence to quality standards).
- Identify and onboard at least two backup suppliers for critical product categories.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have Skills:
- FMCG Supplier Sourcing & Negotiation – Proven experience in sourcing raw materials, packaging, and finished goods for consumer-packaged brands.
- Product & Material Evaluation – Strong understanding of FMCG product specifications, packaging standards, and branding considerations.
- Database & Relationship Management – Ability to build and maintain a reliable FMCG supplier network.
- Analytical & Decision-Making Skills – Ability to assess supplier reliability, cost efficiency, and compliance with FMCG regulations.
- Attention to Detail & Organization – Capable of managing multiple supplier relationships, procurement timelines, and quality assurance measures.
- Experience with global sourcing & international FMCG suppliers.
- Knowledge of import/export regulations, food-grade packaging, and sustainability standards.
- Background in cost analysis and procurement strategy for consumer goods.
- 3+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or purchasing—specifically in the FMCG industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.Project-Based Compensation & Work Arrangement
